Our Mission Statement
OUR PURPOSE
To fill a long standing cultural gap by naming and owning our own narrative in our Black British culture.
BBSF is not solely African or Caribbean.
It is not borrowed from American soul food, but is a newly named, authentic identity built from our lives here in the UK. Through our food, education, and platforms, we foster pride, connection, and community belonging.
WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT?
Our founder, Geniveve Odili (TastyGees) created this movement not as a food brand, but as a platform for visibility, equity, and Black pride.
Black British Soul Food is rooted in history, elevated by creativity and backed by a powerhouse team with lived experience.
We have a shared long term vision to establish BSSF as a nationally recognised identity in the UK and beyond. With community hubs, educational programmes, media projects and sustainability initiatives powered by innovative SoulCart® (co-founded by Keiana Lindsey).
We are building structure around our expression.
We are building BLACK LEGACY + INFRASTRUCTURE
